Working mothers employment rights under question

A tribunal ruling yesterday could have serious implications for working mothers.

The court ruled that Jane Unwin could not bring a case of unfair dismissal against her employer Barclays Bank, because she had previously resigned in 1998, as required technically, to care for her daughter. This meant that she had not completed continuity of service, and so the case could not continue.
