Alcohol advertisements may soon carry health warnings in a government bid to reduce drinking among the young, warned chief medical officer, Liam Donaldson yesterday.

Donaldson also warned in his annual report that more action needs to be taken cut inequalities in health and life expectancy. The problem is a "deep seated and seemingly intractable problem which has been with us for at least a hundred years," says Donaldson.
