Home secretary rules out shift on ecstasy

David Blunkett has rejected calls for the reclassification of ecstasy. He maintained that the drug was "a killer" and said he would not countenance any change to its status. His comments came as senior police chiefs called on the drug to be reclassified in order to let them focus their attention on heroin and cocaine.
