The SAS could be expanded under a new review of Britain's armed forces, says the Guardian. The review will be announced by defence secretary Geoff Hoon at Labour's conference today.

The study will examine whether Britain's troops are sufficiently mobile to respond to "a new kind of war". The scale of the September 11 attacks makes it necessary to re-examine capabilities, said the MoD.
