Slow start for stakeholder pensions

A slow start to the government's stakeholder pensions scheme is increasing pressure to make the new pension compulsory.

Of 224,506 policies sold in the first three months, nearly 175,000 came from one affinity group insurer covering builders, meaning that net new sales across the country are estimated to be as low as 50,000.
