Business opponents of the European single currency have turned on the Conservatives over William Hague's attempt to turn the election into a euro referendum.

Dominic Cummings, campaign director of Business for Sterling, said: "This election is not a referendum on the euro. Tony Blair says so, we say so, and the public knows it's true."

"We are going to have nothing to do with the Tories after the election," he said.
