Milburn prescribes NHS surgery
Massive cutbacks in NHS bureaucracy and a switch of resources to frontline staff will form the basis of health reform if Labour wins the election, announced health secretary, Alan Milburn yesterday.
Launching an NHS modernisation agency, Milburn promised to offer more power to disgruntled GPs and consultants in a bid to see off threats of mass resignations by senior doctors in the run up to the general election.
