Campaigns
Which? campaigns
Which? campaigns actively for all consumers. We are the largest consumer organisation in and are entirely independent of government and industry.
Because our opinions are based solely on in-depth scrutiny and research, people can trust us to help them make confident choices.
We have four main campaign areas: food, health, retail and personal finance.
Food
Which? campaigns to ensure everyone can eat safe, nutritious, good quality food at affordable prices. We should all be able to make informed choices about food to help us lead a healthy lifestyle.
We want
- An end to irresponsible marketing of unhealthy foods to children. We want a 9pm watershed so all TV adverts for foods high in fat, sugar and salt are not shown when children are watching TV in large numbers, and tougher rules on non-broadcast marketing technicques such as packaging.
- All food retailers and manufacturers to adopt, at the very least, the Food Standards Agency's front-of-pack traffic light labelling scheme colours, so that consumers are equipped with the most helpful and easy-to-use information to help them make healthier dietary choices.
- Hygiene scores for food outlets published on local council websites and on restaurant doors to ensure consumers have safe food and understand food risks. Ultimately we want to see local initiatives rolled into one natinal scheme.

Health
Which? campaigns for high quality, patient-focused healthcare for all consumers.
We want
- The forthcoming Health and Social Care Bill to put patients at the heart of the NHS. The regulation of healthcare providers and professionals must be reformed and the new regulator Ofcare needs to champion the patient voice wherever healthcare is provided.
- A healthcare services that listens to and acts upon feedback from patients and their families and that puts the patient at the centre of the NHS.
- Access to good information and advice for consumers of cosmetic surgery and non-surgical cosmetic treatments in a market which is safe and responsible.
- Dental care available for all based on need not ability to pay.
- Timely help and support so patients can deal with health problems outside their GP's opening house.

Personal Finance
Which? Campaigns to get a good deal for consumers from the financial services industry. The personal finance market is complex and dysfunctional with powerful providers, relatively weak consumers, and no real effective competition.
We want:
- The end of unfair charges and practices, such as excessive bank default charges.
- The forthcoming Pensions Bill to introduce a simple and low cost national pensions saving scheme (known as Personal Accounts) run by an independent board consumers can trust.
- Access to fair and independent advice for all
- The financial services regulator, the Financial Services Authority, to effectively protect consumers.

Retail
Which? campaigns to reform anti-competitive sectors and supports people making difficult and complex transactions, enabling them to make informed choices.
We want
- Real redress for home movers through legislation to require all estate agents to be members of an independent redress scheme
- A legal services reform bill setting up a new oversight regulator and an independent complaints body, and giving people more choice in accessing legal services
