Voice UK
VOICE UK is a national charity supporting people with learning disabilities who have experienced crime or abuse. We also support their families and carers and professional workers.
The offices of VOICE UK are in Derby. This is because it was parents from Derby who originally founded the charity after a care worker sexually abused their daughter who had learning disabilities. The parents believed their daughter should be given the opportunity to speak out as a witness. They campaigned for their daughter to be heard as a witness - and won. The care worker was found guilty at the trial and was sentenced to prison.
We provide:
- A telephone helpline
- Parent contact points
- Legal advisors
- Training
And we have an All Party Parliamentary Group.
