Health and Safety in Construction
The UK Timber Frame Association and the whole timber frame industry are totally committed to improving health and safety in construction.
While timber frame may have some inherent advantages because so much of the construction process is conducted in a controlled, less hazardous, factory environment, there still remains work to do on site during erection of the timber frame.
In conjunction with the Health & Safety Executive, the UKTFA is publishing a timber frame version of the HSE’s ‘Absolutely Essential Health & Safety Toolkit’. This specialist advice for developers, contractors and timber frame companies is part of a wider package of training information and guidance being produced for the industry.
|
“The UKTFA’s publication provides a ready checklist for health and safety problems on small construction sites. Too many people in the construction industry are injured or suffer health problems. The unacceptably high levels of injuries and ill health can be reduced by simple precautions. Make use of this toolkit. If we can all work together, we can make the construction industry a healthier and safer place to work in.” Kevin Myers, chief inspector of construction, HSE |
