Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, Chair of TfL Board
Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London, sets the statutorytransport strategy for London, appoints the Transportfor London Board and chairs the Board. Born in Lambeth in 1945, hehas been elected to public office in local government, Parliamentand London-wide government over a period of 30 years. He waselected Mayor of London inMay 2000.
Dave Wetzel, Vice-Chair of Board, Chair of HSE Committee
Dave Wetzel has an extensive knowledge of transport-relatedissues based on a background in local government and a career thathas included roles with London Buses, Dial-a-Ride and the aviationindustry. Mr Wetzel, who also chairs TfL's Safety, Health andEnvironment Committee, is currently chair of the Professional LandReform Group and the Labour Land Campaign. He is also a fellow ofthe Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Honor Chapman, Board Member
Honor Chapman works as a consultant, specialising in propertyresearch, business strategy and urban development. She was apartner and international director of Jones Lang LaSalle for 24years before leaving in 2004 to become executive chair of FutureLondon. In the 1990s she established Think London and, in 2003, wasappointed chair of the London Development Agency. She was appointedCBE in 1997.
Stephen Glaister, Board Member
Stephen Glaister is Professor of Transport and Infrastructure atImperial College London, having previously been with the Departmentof Economics at the London School of Economics. His area ofexpertise is the economics of transport. Stephen was anon-executive director of London Regional Transport Board from1984-1993. He also acted as an economic adviser to the RailRegulator from 1993-2001. He was appointed CBE in 1998.
Kirsten Hearn, Board Member
Kirsten Hearn champions social inclusion, equality and communityengagement issues, using her management, human resources andpersonal experience to promote the needs of minority groups andwomen. She currently runs her own coaching and trainingconsultancy, and is an Independent Member of the MetropolitanPolice Authority. She has also worked in local government and beena community adviser to the Metropolitan Police Service.
Mike Hodgkinson, Board Member, Chair of Finance Committee
Mike Hodgkinson has over 30 years' experience in the transportindustry. He has served as managing director at Land Rover andchief executive at Grand Metropolitan and BAA. In 2003, he wasappointed chairman of Post Office and, in 2004, chairman of FirstChoice Holidays. He is also on the Board of the Commission forIntegrated Transport and director of FKI, Dublin Airport and Bankof Ireland.
Paul Moore, Board Member
Paul Moore gained an insight into the needs of road andtransport users in London when he was vice-chair of transport atthe Greater London Council between 1981-1986. During this time hewas responsible for roads and traffic issues across the city. He iscurrently a lay official of the Communication Workers Union and haswide experience of supporting union members. He has also spent timeworking as a borough councillor.
Gulam Noon, Board Member
Gulam Noon is founder and chairman of ready-meal manufacturerNoon Products and managing director of Bombay Halwa. He was electedpresident of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2002and, in 2004, won the Asian Business Award for Community Services.He is a trustee of numerous charities and chairman of the NoonFoundation, which supports a wide range of causes. He received aknighthood in 2002.
Patrick O'Keeffe, Board Member
Patrick O'Keeffe has extensive experience in industrialrelations. He is currently deputy regional secretary for theTransport and General Workers' Union (TGWU), the UK's biggestgeneral union. His many years assisting workers who requirerepresentation includes time with the Irish TGWU, the AmalgamatedEngineering Union, the British Airways Trade Union Council, theInternational Transport Federation and the European Trade UnionFederation.
Tony West, Board Member
Tony West has been involved in the transport industry for morethan 45 years. During six years as assistant general secretary ofthe Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen, hehelped steer the union through the challenges of Britain's railnetwork privatisation. He has also been a parliamentary candidate,a borough councillor and a trustee director of the Railway PensionScheme.
Toby Harris, Special Adviser
Toby Harris has a wide range of experience in local governmentand public affairs. His background includes time as leader ofHaringey Council, member of the London Assembly and chair of theAssociation of London Government. He currently represents the HomeSecretary on the Metropolitan Police Authority, of which he was thefirst chair, and also manages his own public affairs consultancy.He was made a life peer in 1998.
Bryan Heiser, Special Adviser
Bryan Heiser is a long-term wheelchair user who advises theBoard on accessibility issues faced by older people and passengerswith mobility impairments. He formerly chaired the LondonAccessible Transport Alliance, a consortium of organisationsrepresenting older and disabled people. Its manifesto, which isendorsed by the Mayor, is to campaign for a fully accessible publictransport system in the Capital.
Murziline Parchment, Special Adviser
Murziline Parchment is a director in the Mayor's Office.Previously, she worked as a lawyer at Denton Wilde Sapte,specialising in administrative, local government and planning law.Advising the Mayor on transport projects, policy and itsapplication is central to her work which, in turn, informs her roleon the TfL Board. She is also a trustee of the City ParochialFoundation.
Lynn Sloman, Special Adviser
Lynn Sloman is a partner at Transport for Quality of Life,working with public and voluntary-sector bodies to developsustainable transport policies and practices. She is a visitingfellow at the University of Westminster Transport Studies Group anda Board member of the government body, Cycling England. She hasalso researched environmental policy and was assistant director ofenvironmental organisation Transport 2000 from 1992-2002.
