Southwark Council
Our vision for Southwark
Everyone who lives in Southwark knows that the borough has changed considerably, and for the better, in recent years. It is now one of the most vibrant, exciting and culturally diverse areas of London.
Developments such as Tate Modern have put Southwark on the national and international stage. Regenerating places like Peckham have added a sense that things are moving in the right direction. Schemes such as the renovated Dulwich Picture Gallery have further improved the boroughs appeal.
Even so, pockets of real deprivation still exist in the borough. Our vision is to make Southwark a better place to live, to learn, to work and to have fun - for everybody! The Southwark of the future will be a cleaner, safer and healthy place with a dynamic mix of cultures and diversity which enriches the Boroughs appeal to residents, visitors and businesses alike. The well educated workforce and high skill jobs on offer will put Southwark in the heart of 'world-city' London.
This will only be achieved by bringing together the strengths and experience of agencies providing public services and local voluntary and community groups, the faith sector and the business sector.
