About Us

RWE npower, part of the RWE Group, is a leading integrated UK energy company. We are one of the UK's largest energy suppliers. We have over 8,000MW of generation capacity in the UK from our diverse portfolio of flexible, low-cost generation assets, sell our expertise in power generation in key markets and are market leaders in renewable energy development.

Trading

As part of our integration into the RWE Group, our Trading business transferred to RWE Trading in January 2004. Nevertheless, the trading capability remains a pivotal part of RWE npower's integrated energy model in the UK.

Renewables

Through our renewable energy businesses, which we are bringing together under a new name, npower renewables, we are at the forefront of the UK renewable energy market, with around 24% of the wind energy market during 2003. We are also playing a leading role in helping to achieve the Government's targets to increase renewable energy generation - a target recently increased from 10% by 2010 to 15% by 2015. We are market leaders in both onshore and offshore wind energy developments and operation and small-scale hydroelectric generation in the UK.

Our 13 onshore wind farms have a combined capacity of 159MW, with over 200MW of consented projects under construction or awaiting construction and many more projects at various stages of development. We have nine hydroelectric power stations in Scotland and Wales, with a combined capacity of 50MW.

npowerOne

npowerOne is our Operations and Engineering division. Our expertise is in improving power station reliability, efficiency and environmental management. We provide support to our UK generating capacity of over 8,000MW of coal, oil, and gas-fired power stations as well as renewable and cogeneration plant. Our experience of operating in the world's most advanced liberalised market, combined with our highly skilled and experienced people, makes us well placed to share our expertise with customers both in the UK and overseas.
