Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
Who are we?
RICS - The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - is the pre-eminent organisation of its kind in the world. As such it represents everything that is good in the property profession.
Our 140,000 members who operate out of 146 countries, offer the very best advice on a surprisingly diverse range of land, property, construction and related environmental issues.
The Royal Charter states clearly the raison d'être of RICS -
"to maintain and promote the usefulness of the profession for the public advantage."
In practice, the Charter means that important changes to the RICS constitution - its Bye-Laws - have to be ratified by the UK parliament, through the Privy Council, even after they have been approved by a majority of RICS members voting at a General Meeting.
