    Changing the NEET mindset

Achieving more effective transitions between education and work

LSN's think tank, the Centre for Innovation in Learning, has published Changing the NEET mindset - achieving more effective transitions between education and work. This report seeks to determine why the number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEETs) is so high, and what can be done to tackle this problem.

The report calls for a shift in policy from the current focus on tackling existing NEETs, to preventing young people becoming NEET in the first place. As part of this shift, the report calls for radical measures to address disengaged young people, such as an optional year out of the curriculum at 14 years old.

To accompany the report, we have produced 2 short films, which are available on the LSN website and YouTube channel:

Discussion with authors Sarah Gracey and Scott Kelly on their report

Interview with John Stone, LSN's chief executive on changing the NEET mindset
