Cross-party science & engineering policy debate

350 people made their way through the snow to attend CaSE's Science and Engineering Policy Debate at the Institution of Engineering and Technology on Wednesday January 13th. The debate was chaired by the affable Roger Highfield of New Scientist and had Lord Drayson (Lab), Adam Afriyie MP (Con) and Dr Evan Harris MP (LibDem) in the hot seats.
They were joined by 140 people watching the debate online and a host of tweeters eager to join the discussion. Responding to questions from audience, the three speakers agreed and differed on a range of issues including research funding, education, innovation and scientific advice in government.
