Education

The Institute of Hospitality has a role as an international professional body “to set recognised educational standards”. This is achieved through the accreditation and recognition of programmes delivered by educational establishments or by industry employers and training providers.

Accreditation and registration from the Institute of Hospitality confers on the organisation or company the international recognition of a quality standard in respect of programmes that are relevant to the needs of the Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Industry and which meet accepted Institute of Hospitality international benchmark standards.

The Institute of Hospitality in co-operation with the European Foundation for the Accreditation of Hotel School Programmes (EFAH) has incorporated some of the EFAH philosophy and criteria into its own approach to accreditation and has developed a newly integrated Institute of Hospitality/EFAH accreditation process.

eLearning

The Institute of Hospitality is keen to maintain and develop its international reputation as a provider of qualifications appropriate to the needs of the industry and has set up a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the University of Surrey, supported by a government grant, to develop the Institute of Hospitality’s eLearning facilities.

The outcomes of the project include the development of a number of pilot modules for eLearning that will be supported by the Industry and used to establish relevant CPD areas for members that will lead to qualifications on a new framework.
