GM in the United Kingdom
General Motors' first UK presence was in 1925, beginning with the takeover of Vauxhall. GM now manages a number of brands in the UK and Ireland, namely Corvette, Cadillac, Saab, HUMMER, Vauxhall, Opel and Chevrolet.
GM's UK headquarters are in Luton, Bedfordshire. There are two UK General Motors Manufacturing (GMM) sites, which are located in Luton and Ellesmere Port, producing the Vivaro van and Astra 5-door respectively.
As a consolidated hub for all GME commercial vehicle engineering activities, GME Engineering Millbrook was established in 1999, located on the Millbrook Proving Ground Site. It is organisationally aligned with the GME Engineering operations in Russelsheim and Trollhattan.
