All Party Group on Management
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Management (APPGM) exists to help develop closer understanding between politicians, business leaders and senior public sector managers.
Supported by the Chartered Management Institute, the APPGM's well-attended quarterly meetings provide a lively forum for high-level debate on topical management and leadership themes, introduced by high profile guest speakers. Recent speakers have included Bill Rammell MP, Minister for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education; Women and Equalities Minister Meg Munn MP; Chair of the Equal Opportunities Commission, Jenny Watson; Sir David Varney; and Sir Andrew Foster. The Group has also been addressed by speakers from leading employers such as Lloyds TSB, Network Rail, Grant Thornton, Accenture, Morgan Stanley, Atkins, British Gas, Marks & Spencer, the British Lung Foundation and McLaren Racing Ltd.
Members of the Group receive regular news updates on management-related issues, and are invited to contribute to the Chartered Management Institute's bimonthly journal, Professional Manager, which has a readership of over 100,000.
The Group has been running for over twenty years and was formally registered at the House of Commons in July 2001. It currently has over seventy members.
Following the Group's AGM in July 2008, the Group is currently developing its programme for 2008-09. Topics to be addressed include leadership in the downturn, including the impact of further employment rights; the role of professional bodies in raising skills; and leading with political awareness. Details will be announced in due course. If you would like any more information, please contact Patrick Woodman on 020 7421 2704 or email .
