ePolitix.com Lifelong Learning and Skills Symposium in association with the Chartered Insurance Institute - 7th May 2008
Speaking at the event were higher education minister Bill Rammell MP, shadow skills secretary David WillettsMP and Liberal Democrat higher education spokesman Stephen Williams MP.
Lord Hunt introduced the debate by drawing attention to the Leitch report's impact on the country's workforce and to the particular importance of attracting a skilled workforce to the insurance and financial services sectors.
Daniel Pedley, public affairs manager at the CII said: "The event was a real success thanks to the quality of debate from both the panel and the audience. We were able to see, first hand, just how high the issue of skills is on the agenda of all three major political parties. It also provided the opportunity for the CII to share what we are doing to drive up skill levels and to listen to the experience of others from a wide variety of sectors."
