Association of Personal Injury Lawyers
The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) is a not-for-profit organisation whose members help injured people to gain the access to justice they deserve. Our members are mostly solicitors, who are all committed to serving the needs of people injured through the negligence of others.
The association is dedicated to campaigning for improvements in the law to enable injured people to gain full access to justice, and promote their interests in all relevant political issues. There is a real need, for example, for a statutory database of employers’ liability insurance policies. This will enable workers who contract (often terminal) diseases in later life through the negligence of former employers to gain the recompense they need. The coroners’ system is in need of reform in order to ensure people have full access to justice at what can be a harrowing time, and to prevent more deaths in the future. APIL believes that the current fear of litigation in society is unjustified. We are involved in an ongoing educational campaign to ensure that taking sensible precautions do not hinder people enjoying themselves, but helps them to do so safely.
