What We Do
Under the umbrella of Anchor Trust, we operate six different businesses, each focused on improving the lives of older people:
- Our sheltered housing, Anchor Retirement Housing, provides accommodation for 23,000 older people, at more than 700 schemes across the country;
- Guardian Management Services provides housing management services to leaseholders at more than 200 estates;
- Our model of extra-care housing, Anchor Integrated Care and Housing, has 25 schemes, each with a 24-hour on-site care team;
- Denham Garden Village, our award-winning retirement village in Buckinghamshire, also uses the Integrated Care and Housing model. Denham combines high-quality care with independent living, and an emphasis on lifestyle and social activity, with a health spa and café bar;
- Our domiciliary care business, Anchor Care, enables older people to continue living in their own homes and works with local authorities across England;
- Anchor Homes provides residential and nursing care to more than 4,000 older people in 102 care homes;
- Our home improvement agency network, Anchor Staying Put, includes 52 agencies across England, carrying out building work and adaptations that enable people to stay living at home. In 2006/07, Staying Put provided home improvement services to a record 40,000 customers across the country.
Since 1968, Anchor Trust has pioneered new standards in the specialist care of those with dementia, care home catering, and care for those nearing the end of their lives.
Anchor's Specialist Dementia Care Team shares good practice across the organisation, ensuring that all 102 care homes have received specialist training in dementia care.
Our groundbreaking Cater Craft course trains our Anchor Homes staff in nutrition and food preparation, so that mealtimes are a positive experience for older people. And our award-winning End of Life Care, practiced across our homes, fosters openness and discussion about feelings when residents come to the ends their lives.
