Woodland Trust hosts ancient tree reception in Parliament
On the 3 June 2008David Kidney MP and the Woodland Trust will host a reception in Parliament to celebrate the UK's heritage of ancient trees to be addressed by the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at Communities and Local Government Parmjit Dhanda MP.
Dr James Cooper, Head of Government Affairs at the Woodland Trust, said: "Ancient trees are living relics of incredible age that inspire in us feelings of awe and mystery. They support wildlife that cannot live anywhere else. Over the centuries, they have inspired artists, writers, poets and scientists and are mentioned in sacred texts."
