Commenting on the survey by Which? magazine, Christine Blower, Acting General Secretray of the National Union of Teachers, Europe’s largest teaching union said;
“The evidence from Which? is quite clear – many food companies do not care about the detrimental impact of the food they sell. Parents, their children, and schools have to pick up the consequences of their irresponsible pressure marketing, including the new cyberspace opportunities available to them.
“I urge the Government to convene a forum of food providers to adopt a code which will prevent such marketing - with the commitment that, if agreement is not reached, legislation will follow.”
