Which? Holiday comment on Seguro collapse
10 September 2008
Following the collapse of tour operator Seguro Travel Limited, Rochelle Turner, Head of Research at Which? Holiday says:
Today's announcement of the failure of another tour operator, Seguro is incredibly unfortunate. The company was ATOL bonded so customers should be reassured that they will get their money back and, if abroad, will be brought home without any additional cost.
This news, along with the collapse of Zoom a matter of weeks ago, demonstrates how important it is for consumers to ensure their holidays are protected against this sort of event. People booking holidays should always pay with their credit card so if a similar situation happens in the future, they will be covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, and should ensure that the agent they have booked through is covered by the ATOL bond.
