Small firms get their own care service from the FSB

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), the UK’s largest business organisation, today announces the launch of FSB Care. The service is intended to support small business owners who are struck down by serious illnesses.

FSB Care will provide:

Access to a personal nurse adviser who will provide practical information and emotional support for as long as needed.

They can arrange:

- A Home Visit by a specialist nurse to answer questions, allay fears, and help identify issues to be raised when seeing a consultant; OR arrange:

- A course of therapy, including physio, occupational, speech or complementary, depending on needs; OR:

- A course of specialist counselling.
The user will also have access to a network of specialist charities and self-help groups if these will help.

In this way, FSB members can become a more informed patient, getting the most out of your treatment, and knowing that support is there for you and your family at every step of the way.

Sandy Harris, FSB Members Services Chairman, said:

"We all know somebody who has been diagnosed with a serious health condition, like cancer.

"Usually, the treatment received is first class, but often the practical help and emotional support needed by the individual and their family is missing.

"The focus is on treating the disease, and there is no time or resource left to provide much-needed support throughout what can be a traumatic journey.

"The FSB is aware of members who already find themselves in this situation and that is why we have chosen to provide FSB Care.

"From today members can use at no extra cost, and can buy it for an employee or family member, at the point of need, for a one-off flat fee.

"Large firms can provide such services but small businesses cannot, given the costs involved.

"However, being a member of the FSB means that these services are now available to small businesses as part of their membership fee ".

Richard Thomas, from FSB Care service provider RED ARC, said:

"We are delighted to be able to work with the FSB to provide assistance to their members who are facing a difficult time.  It is testament to the organisation’s care for its members that it has invested in our service.

"We hope that their members always enjoy good health and so never have to use our service.  But if such a day did arrive where they need us we will aim to match their excellence with our own equally high standards.”
