Sir Paul Judge Appointed President of The Chartered Institute of Marketing
London - 7 February 2008: The Chartered Institute of Marketing has appointed Sir Paul Judge as its President. Sir Paul is a well know advocate of professional standards within the marketing profession and has extensive experience of senior business leadership in both the private and public sector.
“I am delighted to give my support to The Chartered Institute of Marketing and to its mission,” commented Sir Paul. “I am keen to help in further enhancing the reputation of The Institute and therefore the recognition of responsible marketing and high professional standards within organisations both in the UK and overseas. I am particularly interested in promoting The Institute’s objective of putting best marketing practice more prominently on the boardroom and government agenda.”
The Institute’s Chairman, Chris Lenton, believes that Sir Paul will indeed do much to enhance marketing’s reputation. “We see Sir Paul as the epitome of great marketing, demonstrating business acumen, thought leadership and strong communication skills. He understands the pivotal role that responsible marketing plays in driving the economy and is a champion of UK Plc,” says Lenton. “I know that Sir Paul will be a key figure in driving both our Chartered Marketer and Membership propositions. We are thrilled that he is joining us and The Institute’s management team, staff and I, all very much look forward to working with him.”
Sir Paul gained his MBA from the Wharton Business School and then worked for Cadbury Schweppes for thirteen years before initiating and leading the buyout of their food companies to form Premier Brands Ltd which was successfully sold in 1989. He was then Chairman of Food from Britain, responsible for promoting the UK food and drink industry overseas, and a director of WPP Group plc and of Boddington Group plc. He was recently Master of the Worshipful Company of Marketors and is currently Chairman of Teachers TV, of the Marketing Standards Board and of the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising and is a director of a number of public companies in the UK, US and South Africa.
As well as his marketing credentials, Sir Paul is also well qualified to support The Institute’s educational role. He is President of the Association of MBAs, Chairman of the Enterprise Education Trust and of St Dunstan’s College, Deputy Chairman of the Royal Society of Arts (Chairman 2003-6) and of the American Management Association in New York and a Member of the Advisory Boards for HEC in Paris and for the Athens University of Economics and Business. He was the key benefactor of the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge and has honorary degrees from Cambridge, Westminster and City universities.
Sir Paul Judge takes over the role from Lord Heseltine, Chairman of Haymarket Group, who was The Institute’s President for the previous three years.
