School Teachers' Review Body: Workload Survey
Tuesday, August 19 2008
Commenting on the School Teachers’ Review Body survey, Christine Blower, Acting General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, Europe’s largest teaching union said; "The figures indicate that workload is going in the wrong direction. The Government's acknowledgement that teachers’ workload is a significant issue hasn’t resulted in a reduction in hours.
"A combination of below inflation pay increases and excessive working hours is not a recipe to make teaching attractive.
"The figures for hours worked by heads and school leaders would suggest that recruitment into these posts will remain difficult."
