PAT WELCOMES YEAR OF FOOD AND FARMING IN EDUCATION

The Professional Association of Teachers (PAT) has welcomed the Year of Food and Farming launched today (29 November 2006).
Commenting on the launch by Defra of its Year of Food and Farming, PAT National Vice Chairman Geraldine Everett said: ‘This is an opportunity for widening the appreciation and understanding of the food chains that affect us all.
“It will be particularly useful for inner-city children and should encourage the retention of inner-city farms.
“The Year can be linked in with many curriculum areas and there are resources to supplement work already going on in schools.”
