Press Release
Over 100,000 students received exam results online with Edexcel's ResultsPlus
This August, over 100,000 students from across the UK and further afield logged on to receive their GCSE and A Level results online. ResultsPlus Direct, the new online service from awarding body Edexcel, means that students no longer have to rush into school or college; they can access their results anytime, anywhere.
43,000 GCSE students logged on today, GCSE results day, with thousands doing so at 6am - the second results became available - and a further 7,000 students registered before 11am. Across the two August results days 108,530 students in total registered.
Mark Arnold, a student at Kings School, Ottery St Mary, said: "Being able to access the site first thing in the morning was great. In this day and age waiting for your results at school when everyone else seems to have been told beforehand seems a little old fashioned. Because I was able to obtain my Edexcel results first thing in the morning it has given me longer to celebrate!"
Susan Yung, an A Level student in Hong Kong, said: "I registered for my A levels and I found out my results online. This new method is very effective and well organised!"
Jerry Jarvis, Edexcel's Managing Director, said: "We're delighted with the popularity of the service and expect registrations to increase year on year. We want to empower students by giving them detailed information about their results, which are so pivotal to them at this stage in their lives."
Edexcel is the first awarding body in England to offer this service to all its GCSE and A Level students, which could signal the beginning of the end of the rush to school grounds on results day.
ResultsPlus is also designed to empower teachers in meeting the challenge of raising students' achievement. Teachers can see how their school or college performed against the national average or similar types of centre, and can generate reports by gender. It provides an unprecedented level of information, giving question-by-question level detail about students' examination results through powerful, logical reports and graphics.
Lynda Roan, Headteacher at Hillcrest School & Sixth Form College, Birmingham, said: "Absolutely brilliant. It is so immediate and detailed... It breaks everything down so staff can see how students are performing and where we need to improve as teachers."
Jerry Jarvis added: "We will be working with teachers to ensure that they have full access to ResultsPlus and can use the data to maximum advantage on their return to school next term."
Underpinned by Edexcel's continued investment in technology, ResultsPlus is exclusively free to Edexcel schools and colleges.
