Our response to David Blunkett's resignation
In response to David Blunkett’s resignation from the Cabinet today, the DRC’s Chairman Bert Massie said :"David Blunkett has shown that disabled people have the ability to make a major contribution to society - given the opportunity.
"With reform of Incapacity Benefit, he had started to identify the risks in taking too sweeping an approach. I hope his successor recognises that providing the right support and opportunities to enable disabled people to move into employment - or be given other opportunities - is the route to follow."
