NASUWT comments on SEN information review
29 Appril 2009
Commenting on the recommendations from Brian Lamb's Special Educational Needs (SEN) Information Review, Chris Keates, General Secretary of the NASUWT, the largest teachers' union in the UK, said:
"Schools will welcome the emphasis in the recommendations on streamlining the SEN and disability reporting requirements.
"If such changes result in parents receiving clear and straightforward reports on their child's progress then parental confidence in how well schools manage SEN and disability matters is likely to be enhanced.
"The commitment of the Secretary of State to working with the social partner workforce unions in order to streamline the reporting arrangements is very welcome.
"These recommendations represent a significant opportunity to establish a high quality, integrated system of information management which will reduce bureaucratic and workload burdens on teachers and school leaders."
