Press Release
Metronet contracts - LONDON FIRST RESPONSE
04 March 2008
London First, the business organisation representing London's leading employers, is pressing Mayoral candidates to adopt a post-Metronet structure with long term contracts which secure Government funding for the Tube improvement programme.
Following comments today (Tuesday) from Mayor Ken Livingstone, Baroness Jo Valentine, Chief Executive of London First said:
"We must employ the expertise of the private sector to manage this highly complex programme, reporting to TfL. But the contracts should be long term, ensuring that Government funding is committed in the long term - so that the programme isn't subject to the whims of successive Chancellors and the ups and downs of the national economy."
