Law Commission welcomes new Commissioner

The Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice Lord Falconer, today
announced the appointment of David Hertzell to the post of Law
Commissioner.
Mr. Hertzell will take over from Professor Hugh Beale QC FBA. Professor
Beale’s tenure as a Law Commissioner ends on 30 June 2007.
Law Commission Chairman, Sir Terence Etherton said
“Professor Hugh Beale has given outstanding service since 2000 as the Law
Commissioner for England and Wales leading on Commercial and Common
Law projects. We extend thanks and warm wishes to him for the future. At the
same time, we are delighted to welcome David Hertzell as a most worthy
successor. We are particularly pleased to have the benefit of his experience
as a practising solicitor with a long and distinguished career in insurance and
other areas of commercial law, both advisory and litigious”.
Mr. Hertzell’s appointment lasts for 5 years from 1 July 2007.
