Join in the fun at The Event - Southwark Park

The Event - Southwark Park is a jam-packed day full of music, food, kids' activities, a funfair, and entertainment centred around the bandstand. Come and join in the fun. Full details below.

On the Main Stage (programmed and managed by Bermondsey Beat) : The Proclaimers (8.30pm), Paul Carrack and Band (7pm), Aynsley Lister (5.30pm), Darts (4pm) and Chris Difford (2.30pm)
On at The Bandstand: If you fancy lying back in a deckchair and relaxing with some of the most prestigious performers around, then wander down to the Bandstand. Sing along, sit back and listen or take a spin around the dance floor - the choice is yours. This year, as part of Southwark's VE and VJ Day celebrations, there will be a whole host of activities and performances that look back over the past 60 years and re-create some of those special memories.
Between 1pm and 7pm you can look forward to: Denis Lotis, Joan Hinde, Claudine Edwards, Jeff Wayne, Paul Arden-Griffith, Sue Kennett, and a tea dance led by Jo Purvis.
Other attractions at The Event include:
- Only Fools and Horses museum
- A Fun Dog Show (registration is from 1pm and judging from 2pm)
- Professional tennis coaching (5-10 year olds from 1pm - 2.20pm; 11-15 year olds from 2.30pm - 4.00pm)
- Kids' activities (Punch & Judy, stone carving, T-shirt printing, musical workshops, story telling)
- Reuben Bond's traditional funfair with a carousel and helter-skelter
- Firework display

Starts at 12 noon at Spa Road and will make its way along Grange Road, Southwark Park Road and into Southwark Park. Officially kicks off the fun at The Event - Southwark Park.
Colour, music and dance will fill the streets of Bermondsey as a mass of people follow this lively parade - this year with a Human Body theme - into Southwark Park. More than 20 community, charity and school groups have worked with professional carnival artists to create costumes, giant puppets and floats.
