INDUSTRY LEADERS TAKE ON NEW TOP ROLES

Three new leaders will take on the top posts at the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers’ annual conference today (19 April)
New president Martin Bare will lead the association for the next 12 months, taking over the reins from Richard Langton. Originally from Newcastle, Bare is a partner at Leeds firm Morrish and Co, and has a particular interest in industrial disease cases, having been involved in the DWP’s recent discussions on improving the claims process for sufferers of mesothelioma. Bare was also one the claimant team in the agreement of both employers’ liability and employers’ liability disease fixed success fee negotiations.
Taking over the role of vice president is former health service manager, Amanda Stevens. Based in Charles Russell LLP’s Guildford office, Stevens, a partner and head of the firm’s personal injury group, has an interest in occupational disease, catastrophic injury and clinical negligence cases. She has a particular interest in health and safety issues and plays a key role in APIL’s promotion of rehabilitation.
Stephen Lawson of Cheshire firm Forshaws today takes up his position as APIL’s secretary. Lawson heads the civil litigation department at the firm and handles a varied personal injury caseload including fatal accident claims, as well as inheritance disputes, and Child Support Agency (CSA) claims.
