Health Professions Council meeting summary

Annual Budget 2007-8

Council agreed its budget for the coming financial year.

Key Decisions from Fees Consultation

Following the consultation in winter 2006-7, Council set the level of fees for the next two years.

Trust, Assurance and Safety - Regulation of Health Professionals in the 21st Century

Council discussed the recommendations in the White Paper which was published in February and agreed to feed back initial views regarding future governance arrangements to the Department of Health.

Strategy

Council noted that it would review its strategy document at the workshop planned for 30 May 2007. 

Consultation on Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics

Council considered and agreed the text of a consultation on proposed changes to the standards, which all registrants and prospective registrants must keep to.

The consultation is planned to take place between May and July 2007. 

Consultation on Confidentiality

Council considered and agreed the text of a consultation on draft guidance which provides registrants with additional information and advice on how to handle issues around confidentiality.

The consultation is planned to take place between May and July 2007. 

Publication of Case to Answer Information on HPC website

Council agreed changes to the information which is published about Fitness to Practise proceedings.

Members’ Skills Audit

Council agreed to undertake an audit of members’ skills.
