Applied psychologists: Threshold level of qualification for entry to the register

The Council considered the proposed threshold level of qualification which would allow applied psychologists to be registered, if the profession became regulated by the Council. The Council also agreed the text of a draft consultation document on the proposal.

Fitness to Practise

The Council reviewed the indicative sanctions practice note (which sets out the policy on sanctions which could be applied in fitness to practise cases), an updated prosecutions policy for protection of title and standards for advocates who present fitness to practise cases to panels on behalf of HPC.

Council Awayday

The Council held its annual strategic awayday on the afternoon of 3 October and on 4 October. The awayday considered the issues and challenges affecting HPC and reviewed changes to governance arrangements proposed in the white paper (Trust, assurance and safety: The regulation of healthcare professionals in the 21st century). A summary of discussions will be reported to the next meeting of the Council on 13 December 2007.
