Health Professions Council meeting agenda summary

A summary of decisions will be made available on the HPC's website within fifteen working days of the meeting.

Key Decisions from the Standards of Proficiency Consultation

Following a consultation in winter 2006-7, Council will consider the text of the document summarising responses to the consultation. The Council will also be asked to approve the revised standards for publication and that the revisions should be effective from 1 November 2007.

Approval of Programmes Leading to Entitlements Under the Prescription Only Medicines (Human Use) Order 1997

Council will discuss the arrangements for approving these programmes.

Grandparenting Report

Council will consider a report on the grandparenting process for the first 12 professions regulated by HPC.

Outcome of Consultation on Guidance Notes for Occupations Considering Applying for Regulation by HPC

Council consulted in winter 2006-7 on proposed changes to the guidance notes for occupations seeking regulation by HPC. Council will be asked to consider the text of the document summarising the responses and agree the revised guidance for applicant occupations.

Review of the Standards of Education and Training Professional Liaison

Council will consider and agree a workplan for the review of the Standards of Education and Training, which were originally published in 2004.


Professional Qualifications Directive

Council will discuss the impact of this directive, which enables holders of a professional qualification from the European Economic Area to work in another member state.

Draft reports

The Council will consider its draft annual report and the draft Fitness to Practise annual report.
