EMF Policy Seminars 2008: Ethnic Minorities, Employment and Skills Seminars
Tuesday 3 June 2008 from 11:00 – 14.00 pm (including lunch)
The Committee Room, No. 2 Millbank, London SW1P 3LX
The Ethnic Minority Foundation (EMF) cordially invites you to participate in a policy seminar with key government representatives and stakeholders to discuss the latest value for money study on Increasing Employment Rates for Ethnic Minorities.
We are delighted that the Rt. Hon Stephen Timms MP, Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform, Department for Work and Pensions, will be able to share with us his Department’s efforts to increase labour market participation among minority ethnic groups.
The seminar will be chaired by Lord Bhatia OBE, Chairman of EMF, and feature a contribution from Dr Krishna Sarda (Hon)FRSA, Chief Executive of EMF. Delegates will have an opportunity to engage in debate with the speakers during the ensuing Questions and Answers session.
After lunch, a follow-up event will take place (14:00 to 16:00) focusing specifically on EMF’s own recent initiative aimed at enabling access to employment for minority ethnic women. We will discuss with a select group of funders and interested parties the Foundation’s Developing Leadership among British Muslim Women through Training, Education and Employment Programme, which aims to place 10,000 Muslim women into the labour market.
The event will be chaired by Lord Bhatia OBE, Chair of EMF, and will feature contributions from Dr Krishna Sarda (Hon), Chief Executive of EMF, and Chris Webb, Director of Tribal Group, who will jointly consider the scope of the programme and ways in which interested parties may become involved in delivering its objectives. Participants, including representatives from the public, private and voluntary sector will have an opportunity to discuss the scheme in detail with the speakers during the ensuing Questions and Answers session.
We hope you will be able to join us on this occasion and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Please RSVP to Dr Sylvie Koestlé (sylvie.koestle@EMFoundation.org.uk) either by email or telephone: 0207 426 8957 by Friday 16 May 2008.
