Cream of international business unite to drive forward OU Business School

A new International Advisory Board has been established for the OU Business School, tasked with supporting the global development of the school. Providing advice, networking opportunities and strategic oversight for the OU Business School, the board includes a spectrum of members who are business leaders excelling in their own fields.

The Chair set to lead the International Advisory Board is former United Nations representative, Sir Emyr Jones Parry. Sir Emyr has worked in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office since 1973 and was recently UK Permanent Representative to the United Nations as well as Permanent Representative to NATO. Sir Emyr said: “The OU Business School’s International Advisory Board is an exciting new body that will provide strategic guidance for the School, help to facilitate relationships across the globe and assist in the development of the OU Business School, establishing it as a world-class leader in business, management and legal education.”

Dean of the OU Business School, Professor James Fleck, said: “The OU Business School has a mission to be a truly global business school, supporting a community of international students, alumni and partners who take our world-class learning approach into the heart of professional practice. The International Advisory Board will have a pivotal role in helping us achieve this mission, and the appointment of a Chair with the calibre and experience of Sir Emyr is a major step towards this goal.”

Alongside Sir Emyr on the board are ten other executives who each bring experience and international perspectives to the OU Business School:

  • Dr Andreas Raffel, Global Partner and Chief Executive, Rothschild, Germany
  • Mr Justin Jenk, Senior Partner, Boreal
  • Mr Andrew Craissati, Chief Executive, Transpac Media Ltd
  • Ms Beverley Salt, Vice President, Strategic Planning, World Outside USA, AstraZeneca Plc
  • Ms Margaret Miller, Senior Vice President and CIO, Warner Music Group
  • Mr James Cullens, formerly Group Human Resources Director, The Linde Group
  • Ms Chinyelu Onwurah, Head of Telecoms Technology, Ofcom
  • Mr Paul Mylrea, Director of Communications, Department for International Development
  • Mr David Day, Chief Operating Officer (Europe), Lightspeed Europe, WPP Group Plc
  • Mr Sanjeeb Choudhuri, Head of UK Consumer Banking, Citibank International Plc

The Board held its first meeting in March 2008 and will come together regularly to scrutinise the global development of the OU Business School.
