Press Release

Celebrating Innovation in Construction Products

6 October 2008

The annual publication of Construction Products Innovation and Achievement (CPIA) from the Construction Products Association, has once again highlighted some of the most innovative products and processes that have been developed by the construction products industry in the last twelve months or so and shows that, despite the economic downturn, the industry continues to deliver improvements to all parts of the manufacturing process, to the benefit of the procurer, the supplier, the processor, as well as the end user.

Commenting on the entries chosen for the publication, Simon Storer, Communication and External Affairs Director, for the Construction Products Association said:  “Once again the construction products industry has shown an enormous desire to introduce a variety of new and exciting developments.  If anybody believed this industry was standing still then you need only to look at the products and processes showcased in this year’s publication to see the huge input the industry is making towards change.  Historically the industry has not always been good at trumpeting its own achievements.  However, CPIA shows how the construction products industry is continuously developing and creating innovative products and processes which make a significant impact to all aspects of construction.”

“These 24 entries come from across the industry and from a range of companies both large and small.  They really do demonstrate what is best from the industry and how in key areas such as Energy and Carbon Saving; Health, Safety and Security; Improvements in Site Safety; and Resource Efficiency benefits and improvements are being delivered to installers and users alike.  Although we were only able to choose 24 products for this publication, there are an additional 42 products highlighted on our website.  This shows without doubt that the industry really is leading the way with new ideas.”

The products featured in the publication cover a wide range and include processes designed to save energy and reduce emissions, provide health and safety guidance for employees and contractors and provide a full sustainability appraisal of manufacturing operations.
