ATL conference to debate key issues for teachers of the future
The Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) will this week bring teachers, academics and civil servants together for a one-day conference to consider "What will the education profession of the future look like if learning is to be at its heart?"
The conference, to be held in London on Saturday 11 June 2005, is part of ATL's Teaching to Learn campaign, which aims to put learning, rather than performance at the heart of education policy.
Professor Michael Barber, Head of the Prime Minister's Delivery Unit, Professor Guy Claxton, Professor of Learning Sciences at the University of Bristol and ATL's General Secretary, Dr Mary Bousted will be speaking.
At the conference, ATL will launch its latest publication "An intelligent look at Emotional Intelligence" by Professor Guy Claxton. This important new work sheds light on a complex but 'fuzzy' concept, providing teachers, lecturers and education professionals with a clear insight into how emotions in everyday learning are vital to the well-being of individuals and communities.
