Created in 1997 from the former seats of Clwyd South West and Wrexham, theConstituency of Clwyd South in North Wales transcends the boundaries ofthree local authorities, Powys to the South, Wrexham County to the East andDenbighshire to the North and West.
Largely rural, Clwyd South contains areas of great natural beauty, includingthe horseshoe pass; North of Llangollen and the lush green Dee Valley.
Employment in Clwyd South is varied. In the rural areas agriculture is themain employer, whereas in the corridor adjacent to Wrexham manufacturingprovides most of the jobs with factories like Kronospan and FlexysChemicals.
Clwyd South has a sizeable Welsh speaking population.
