More about Chingford and Woodford Green
Chingford
Chingford and Highams Park are in the borough of Waltham Forest which forms part of and lies in the north-east of Greater London.
Chingford was mentioned in the Domesday book commissioned by William the Conqueror. Its name is thought to be a reduction of the Saxon caegingeford, meaning 'The ford of the dwellers by the stumps".
Despite bombing during the second world war, the area has grown onto a cosmopolitan area with two Golf courses, Epping Forest on its doorstep and easy access to the city and West End of London.
