Helen Jones, the MP for Warrington North, welcomes you to her homepage at ePolitix.com and thanks you for your interest in the Warrington North constituency.

Since being elected in 1997, Helen Jones has worked hard locally. A fully staffed office has been set up in Warrington and she has dealt with queries and problems from thousands of people who have contacted her by letter, telephone, and e-mail or through her regular surgeries.

Helen Jones has established a well-deserved reputation as a hard working constituency MP and as a tough, energetic campaigner who gets results for local people.

GOVERNMENT WHIP

In the Cabinet reshuffle of June 2009, Helen has received a significant promotion. She has moved from her position of Assistant Government Whip and was promoted to the position of Vice Chamberlain of Her Majesty's Household, a position within the Government Whips' office.

Along with her new political responsibilities, the job holds a number of ceremonial duties which she has to undertake, as the position means that she has become an officer of the Royal Household.

She must compile a private daily report on proceedings in the House of Commons for the Queen, as well as accompanying the Queen and the Royal household to a number of events in Buckingham Palace.

The role also requires her to be held "hostage" at Buckingham Palace when the Queen drives in procession to Westminster for the State Opening of Parliament.
