People have raised a number of local issues with Helen when she has been out and about.

• In the Rhodes Street area residents are worried about the state of the pavements. Helen saw them for herself. She contacted the council who have promised to undertake repairs.
• The embankment at the junction of Hallfields Road and Norris Street has been a problem area for litter and fly tipping. Following Helen’s intervention the council tidied the area and have agreed to ensure adequate cleansing is maintained.
• Long Lane has had problems with HGVs. Following a successful campaign a temporary ban has been enforced and Helen is pressing for this to be made permanent.
• Fitzherbert Street and surrounding roads experience problems with parking. Helen got the council to conduct a traffic survey but the LibDem and Tories who run the borough council have refused to allow residents’ only parking. The campaign to ease the parking problem will continue.
• The embankment at the rear of West Avenue has been tidied up and all the litter removed following residents’ complaints. Helen also ensured the trees were pruned by the borough council.

• Helen has campaigned for greater safety at our traffic islands- resulting in a promise of resurfacing;
• Helen has been working to solve the problem of abandoned shopping trolleys— ASDA have agreed to implement a scheme which prevents the trolleys from being removed from their site;
• Helen is opposing the extension to Risley Landfill site.

• Ward councillors Paul Bretherton and Bill Brinksman, along with MP Helen Jones are working to ensure Dreams plc. carry out their promise to replace the trees they have cut down on their Chesford Grange site and that the promised landscaping also takes place.
