Update on your Post Office Card Account
On Thursday 13 November, the Work and Pensions Secretary announced that the contract for the successor to the Post Office card account (POCA) will be awarded exclusively to the Post Office.
Having repeatedly called on the Government to review the decisions to abolish POCA and award this contract to the Post Office, West Derbyshire's Member of Parliament, Patrick McLoughlin, welcomed this long awaited announcement.
Patrick commented,
“The Government’s decision to cancel the tender process and award the contract exclusively to the Post Office is the correct decision for the post office network and for POCA customers. The Post Office’s bid was highly competitive, and provides customers with unrivalled geographical coverage, security and peace of mind. Indeed, I am confident that many of my constituents, who live in the more rural areas of the constituency, will especially welcome the news.
“Whilst this is of course an important step in securing the future of throughout the constituency, we must recognise that their future will not be secured by wishful thinking. Only by continuing to channel more work through the Post Office network, will we ensure the Post Office’s presence in West Derbyshire is maintained”.
