The role of Clare Short in Zimbabwe Land Reform

It is sometimes claimed by ZANU-PF sources that Clare Short was opposed to land reform in Zimbabwe. President Mugabe read out part of her letter to the then Minister of Lands to try to give this impression.

I am therefore posting here a copy of an article by the then Head of Africa at DFID, Peter Freeman which sets out the whole record.

I am also posting a copy of the letter to the Finance Minister of 31 August 1997 and to the Minister of Lands and Agriculture of 5 November 1997.
