SNP attend Iraq memorial service, Robertson represents party

The Scottish National Party were represented at the Iraq remembrance service at London's St Paul's Cathedral today [Friday].

The SNP's Foreign Affairs and Defence Spokesperson Mr Angus Robertson MP joined 2,000 people at the service, which included service personnel from airbases in his Moray constituency. Commenting on the event, Mr Robertson said:

"We must remember everybody who suffered in this conflict, and the SNP do so with a heavy heart. Hundreds of service personnel were deployed from RAF Lossiemouth and RAF Kinloss in my own constituency, and I want to pay my own tribute to them and their families.

"The SNP's opposition to the war in Iraq is well known. We wanted no war, and therefore no need for a service to remember all those who died. It is with great sadness that I attend on behalf of my party."
